Assistants
Use the HR system from Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor
People ask their own assistant how much leave they have, who is off next week, or to book a day. It connects over MCP, acts as the person who connected it, and every call lands in the audit log.
Five safeguards on every connection
- Off until the company turns it on
- Assistant access starts switched off. HR turns it on in settings, can turn it off again at any time, and the switch is written to the audit log.
- The same permissions as the app
- The assistant acts as the person who connected it. An employee's assistant sees that employee's record and balances. A manager's sees their team.
- Scopes chosen per connection
- Read what you can see, book your own leave, or decide on your team's requests. Pay, ID, bank and health fields need a separate scope that only HR can give its own assistant.
- Approvals confirmed in the chat
- Before a decision is saved, the assistant shows the request and asks the manager to confirm it.
- Every call is logged
- Each tool call goes to the audit log with the person, the time, what was asked and whether it was allowed.
Common uses
Each of these runs through the same permission checks as the app.
- Questions about balances, who is off and who reports to whom
- Booking or cancelling your own leave from the chat
- Approving or denying your team's requests, confirmed before saving
- Mapping the columns of another HR system's export, with a dry run first
- Answers from your own handbook, quoting the paragraph each came from
Questions
How do we start using it from Claude or ChatGPT?
HR turns on assistant access in settings. Each person then connects their own assistant from their profile and chooses the scopes it gets.
Is our data used to train models?
We send nothing to a model. When you connect your own assistant, it reads what you ask for, under your agreement with that assistant's provider. Check that provider's terms for training and retention.
